And the girl crush continues! Kacey Musgraves will team up with tourmate Katy Perry for the next installment of CMT’s Crossroads. Musgraves says, I've been such a HUGE fan of Katy and her vision since I found out about her. So, joining forces with her for Crossroads is going to be incredible. In some ways we're on opposite ends of the spectrum, but in a lot of ways our music makes total sense together.” And Perry returns the sentiment saying, “To me, Kacey Musgraves is an artist that should be a household name because she offers a unique perspective with her writing style. It's going to be a BLAST to play on each other’s songs this Crossroads. It will be a preview to our Prismatic World Tour road trip this summer WHICH I CAN'T WAIT FOR!” They will record the show in LA at the end of this month and it will air across all CMT platforms on June 13th.
And a new album aims to honor Merle Haggard. “Working Man’s Poet: A Tribute to Merle Haggard” boasts some impressive covers meant to show appreciation to The Hag. Jason Aldean recorded two songs for the album, but admits one holds a special place in his heart. In reference to recording “Going Where the Lonely Go,” Aldean says, “My dad was a big Merle Haggard fan, and I just remember him playing this song a lot as a kid. So given a chance to be part of this tribute, I wanted to do a song that meant a little something to me. And this was one that took me back to my days as a kid.” Luke Bryan and Garth Brooks also recording songs. Merle Haggard will also receive the Crystal Milestone Award this Sunday at the ACM Awards.
