Miranda Lambert to Release New Single This Week!

Feb 03, 2014 -- 9:00am

It’s been eight months since Miranda Lambert released a single, but that drought ends this week!  Lambert will release “Automatic” to radio on Wednesday.  This will be the lead single from her to-be-named forthcoming album.  Lambert describes the single saying, “‘Automatic’ is a song about the good life.  It’s about slowing down, taking a breath and remembering what it’s like to live life a little more simply. It’s not about going back, but reminiscing...The song brings back good memories and it reminds me to take a deep breath and to remember that getting there is half the fun.”

And while it’s common to hear female country artist names like Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and even Taylor Swift, female success in country music is nothing less than a miraculous feat.  Carrie Underwood went into detail in a recent interview with Billboardabout the shocking statistics of female artists when it comes to the charts.  Like in 2012 and 2013, only three of the top 25 artists on Billboard Top Country Songs chart were female solo artists.  Three!  Of that stat, Carrie says, ““You would think that we would be farther along in the thinking about women in country music.  I like to think things are getting better, but then I see stats like [the one cited above] and realize that women really do seem to get the short end.”  She goes on to note, she knows she’s an exception to the rule saying, “We see new male artists have their first single reach No. 1 on the charts, but it generally takes a female a lot longer to build momentum.  I know that I am an exception to this, but I [also] know that if I hadn’t made my place in country music via ‘American Idol,’ I probably could have tried to make it for the rest of my life and never made any progress.”  Speculation on why this is the case ranges from the party songs female singers can’t get away with as easily as male artists and even the pressure female artists face of having to keep it all together.  Carrie’s interview is pretty insightful.  Check it out and
