It’s the announcement the entire industry has been anxiously awaiting and dreading all at the same time. George Strait has announced the tour dates for his final tour. The final leg of The Cowboy Rides Away Tour will hit 26 cities, including Kansas City’s Sprint Center. Each weekend of the tour will have a special guest. Those guests include, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Ronnie Dunn, Vince Gill, Merle Haggard, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Lee Ann Womack, Chris Young, and more. The grand finale of the King’s more than 30 years of touring will take place in his home state of Texas at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. The date is to be determined for that milestone, but rest assured it will be something spectacular. Strait says, “The first leg of the tour earlier this year was very fun, but also very emotional. Every city and venue holds such great memories. I’m really looking forward to seeing our fans out on the road in 2014.” While it’s bittersweet to see the King’s touring era come to an end, it’s reassuring to know he will continue to be an active icon as he recently signed a contract with MCA Records extending his contract for at least five more albums. Strait has said he will play select dates beyond this final tour, but they will be very limited.
